"Coming Out Around the World", Safe Zones Educator Application, and more!

As always, if you are interested in helping out with programs or have
ideas you would like to share, come to our exec meetings, held on
Mondays at 10 pm in Eliot House seminar room (1st floor/basement
level).

**This Week:**

1) Coming Out Around the World Panel: LGBT Issues Outside the US
Wed. March 7, 7-8:30 pm @ Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom (law school)

Join expert panelists Julie Dorf, founding executive director of the
International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, John
Scagliotti, Emmy Award-winning director of "Dangerous Living: Coming
Out in the Developing World", Winifred Poster, PhD, visiting professor
in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, and Scott Long, director of the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Program at Human Rights Watch.
Presentations by the panelists will be followed by a Q & A session.

OUTLAW, and the International Studies Honorary

2) Safe Zones Educator Application Deadline Extended: FRI MARCH 9
Safe Zones (http://sugroups.wustl.edu/~safezones/), an educational
group on GLBTQIA issues, is seeking YOU to help run workshops! If you
are interested in being trained to become a Safe Zones Educator,
follow the instructions on the application attached to this email. The
deadline has been extended to THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 9th, so fill out an
application today! (All class years, undergrad and graduate, are
welcome to apply.) Email safezones@sugroups.wustl.edu for more info.

**Events & Deadlines After Spring Break:**

3) "On The Desire to be Normal: Post-Fordist Affect in Rosetta and La Promesse":
Mon. March 19, 4 pm @ Hurst Lounge (upstairs Dunker Hall)

Professor Lauren Berlant, "one of the biggest names in queer theory"
and sexuality studies at the moment, will be lecturing on sexuality,
Judith Butler, neoliberalism and class.

4) X Magazine submissions (deadline March 20)Published by the Student Forum on Sexuality every semester, Wash U's
only publication on the political, social, cultural, and educational
aspects of sexuality, is extending an invitation to Pride Alliance
members to submit their work. Send your art, prose, poetry, critical
essay, and personal anecdotes to xsubmission@gmail.com.

5) National Union of Jewish LGBT Students (NUJLS) Conference March 23-25:
Hosted and organized by Keshet
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/keshet/), the international NUJLS
conference will be held at Wash U this year. It'll be full of all
sorts of programming, speakers, and opportunities to network and
discuss-- plus it's being hosted right here on our campus, so check it
